The Brontes’ work is Yorkshire Gothic, a gothic where the land is alive and with an awareness that is far older than Christianity. // You will never understand the Brontes until you understand what it means to live near the West Yorkshire moorlands: to live amongst the mist, the constant smell of peat everywhere, the bleakness, the utter sense of isolation, the way things sound, the dampness, the moss on the stone, the old roman roads, the cuppings in the stones, the henges, the ring stones…//” var hämtat från en av kommentatorerna till artikeln jag läst. (Ovanligt välformulerad kommentator). Filmen verkar hursomhelst försöka återspegla just denna känsla.
